Over 20 teams from across the business travel sector took part in this year’s Dragon Boat Racing & Family Fun Day, representing the likes of airlines, hotels, train operators, serviced accommodation providers and TMCs. Hosted by The Business Travel Magazine and Institute of Travel & Meetings, the event saw the team from The Business Travel & Meetings Show pip defending champions SACO to victory by just a few hundredths of a second in the final. A valiant third place was secured by Silverdoor who came back better prepared after picking up the Wooden Spoon in 2009.

More than 500 people – including over 200 children – enjoyed the racing and various activities on offer, including bouncy castles, magicians, an assault course, balloon modelers, face painters and gladiator duels! A raffle helped raise nearly £1,000 for two charities supported by TBTM and ITM, with a top prize of two return tickets to New York generously provided by Continental Airlines.  Other prizes were kindly donated by Accor, Eurostar, Inntel, Dolphin House, Jumeirah, Shangri-La, The Appointment Group and Principal Hayley Hotels.

The Business Travel Magazine’s publisher David Clare said: “This was a great day out for all concerned and an excellent opportunity for colleagues and rivals within the business travel industry to turn their competitive spirit towards raising money for some great causes.” The event was organized by Team Activity Group Ltd (TAG) and was generously hosted at The Oakley Court Hotel by Principal Hayley Hotels, with ground transportation kindly provided by Laneways.

Chorus Group recently helped raise over £18,000 for a really deserving cause after entering Grosvenors 10th Annual Dragon Boat Regatta.  Crewed by a sterling team of managers and subcontractors working on Chorus / Grosvenor projects, our boats competed in three grueling races.  Despite being pipped to the post, the crew raised valuable funds for Richard House, a London Children's Hospice that provides care and support for children with terminal illnesses.

CZWG took part for the second time in the annual Dragon Boat Racing organised by Grosvenor.  26 Teams took part in the racing event in Bisham Abbey NSC.  CZWG was delighted to come 5th in the race but has its eye on the rather elaborate Dragon award for next year.  Over £18,000 was raised on the day for Richard House, Londons 1st children's hospice.
